12 AMAZING SUPERHERO DIY'S

DIY Superhero ideas and inspiration by Embellishmentskids.com
The imaginary world of superheroes has grown into a sub-culture phenomena.  The caped wonders have influenced everything from candy to luxury cars.  Gathering places like Pinterest are flooded with super easy, primitive hero DIY's.  As an experienced maker of things, I love the challenge of something more difficult.  As I'm sure many of you do.

Here I've gathered a collection of 12 superhero DIY's varying in difficulty.  They range from easy Kryptonite Jello to multi-step latex hero eye masks.  I hope you enjoy the selection as much as I do.  If you tackle any of them let me know how they turn out.

Super Hero Costume Gloves DIY
The Geeksmiths over at The Geek Forge are sharing instructions on how to make your own professional grade superhero gloves.  You could scale them up or down, making them perfect for adults and kids alike. If you want to take their DIY one step further try using multiple colored fabrics to recreate your favorite hero costumes.

Superhero Latex Eye Mask Make up
With this easy to follow DIY video, Sarza the South from Nsomniaks Dream will help you create a custom eye mask.  These latex wonders are akin to what live actors wear in the superhero movies.   Be sure to check out her YouTube channel for all kinds of hero and otherworldly make-up effects.
Superhero Comic Wallet DIY
Want a great gift for a superhero fan?  Why not make them a one-of-a-kind comic book wallet.  The talented team at ForUsToBe have laid out detailed instructions on how to create a wallet using a standard comic book.  It's a great idea!  Who better to protect your Benjamins than a superhero?
Captain America Shield DIY
Suddenly, there's a demand for those idle satellite dishes that you see on roofs.  I know I'm guilty of having one parked on my roof.  Seamster from Instructables.com has the ultimate repurposing guide to transform one of those dishes.  Follow the straight forward instructions and you'll have a movie prop quality Captain America shield.
Make your own realistic DIY clouds
Before you comment that building a cloud is a bit of a superhero stretch, I must remind you that there's quite a few heroes that control the weather.  Plus, I can totally see this in a kids room with an action figure flying by.  Talk about playtime fun!  Serena over at The Farm Chicks takes you step by step, with quality photos.  I suppose at step three you could paint your clouds silver.  That way when things get tough you'll aways have a cloud with a silver lining!  I know, I know.... I had to go there.
Super Hero Decor using Post-It Notes
Ben Brucker thought his office environment was a bit drab.  So he laid out plans to create an amazing superhero mural using 8024 Post-It notes.  Yes, that's Post-it notes.  While in a home environment sticky notes may fall victim to catastrophe, you could use his idea as inspiration using paint or colored paper adhered with wall paper paste.  Well done Ben, you're my hero!
Mason Jar Superhero storage
I realize many of you may have seen this already because Angie at the Country Chic Cottage has had her clever idea go viral on Pinterest.  But, it's so simple and clever it deserves another peek.  The subtle hint of superhero is perfect.  To throw my two cents in, I'd recommend using two part epoxy or E6000 to adhere the figures to the lids, otherwise they'll work loose from lil' man handling.
Spiderman Web decor
I hope Dana at DanaMadeIt.com doesn't mind my tweaking her idea to fit a superhero room.  She posted this clever idea as a Halloween decoration.  In my mind, I can so easily see this in a Spiderman fan room.  A huge one would be great above a headboard or a smaller version could be used to display photographs and small mementos like a bulletin board.  In fairness to Dana, here's her original photo, I altered it above to help illustrate my point.  It's a great Halloween DIY as well.

superhero repair first aid kit
If you have superpowers you have to get used to super bruises and super pains.  Jill at Rockinboys.com has the answer to those mighty mini hero accidents.  She's created the Superhero Repair Kit.  It's filled with bandages, alcohol wipes and even a sucker.  You can recreate this clever kit by downloading herfree image from her site.
Kryptonite recipes for Superman
If you have a super-powered little one, you may find yourself having a Superhero birthday party.  These three items grabbed my attention.  If you can boil water or stir juice then you can successfully create Kryptonite.  We have a pitcher of limeade with a glow stick inside, a sugar candy recipe with clever molds to make crystals and one Jello idea that's short a recipe.  The Jello secret would be to use tonic water instead of regular water.   Tonic water will glow under black light to the amazement of the little ones.
DIY Superhero Action Figure Lamp
For my clients, that want superhero rooms, I often work toward a more understated look.  If the child is a supers fan they'll be plenty of toys, books and paraphernalia emblazoned in comic book colors.  Reducing the room to a simpler look will balance it out.  Here,  Jessy from Instructables.com offers her DIY action figure lamp.  She's right on trend with the gold but if you're a super style purist it would be just as dynamic painted blue, red or yellow.    This is a great way to repurpose all of those Happy meal figures and toys that don't get the attention they used to.

Batmobile Cozy Coupe DIY
What lil' Batman wouldn't love his low mph bat mobile?  This two door beauty started out as a Little Tykes Coupe.  With the color switch out using plastic friendly spray paint and a finishing detail care of a Cricut machine,  Courtney from Sweet C's Designs became the worlds coolest BatMom!  In here trial and error honest DIY, there are great comments from friends working to create their own.  I know she mentioned the paint coming off a little.  A trick to help prevent that would be to arm yourself with gloves and use a combination of a 3m scour sponge and some isopropyl (drug store rubbing alcohol) to wipe off any sticky hand prints, french fry grease and boogers before painting.  The plastic needs to be free of oily substances and the scouring with the coarse sponge will abrade the surface a little to help it accept paint.  Don't use sand paper, that's too coarse and will leave scratch marks.

I hope you enjoyed the tour of super to-do DIY's and find inspiration to make each project your own.  If you're in the planning stages of a super room, I'd love to also recommend my superhero wall art collection.
