For this display trim I wanted to bring to life beach textures and colors in a minimalist concept, but in maximalist volume. As examples, I had a goal to incorporate beach glass. One thinks of beach glass as small jewels intermixed in the sand. I designed the maximal version to be larger than life using quantities beyond what beach combers find. To do so I needed to tumble my own blend of glass colors and I needed pounds of it. So here in the studio I assembled 50 lbs of bottles and containers, broke them up and tumbled them with a blend of abrasives. Tumbling for several days transformed the colorful shards into frosted baubles ready to create with. The other maximal volume concept required a lot of seashells, gorgeous ones, not just the simple beach combed clam and imported souvenir trinket type. Our 3D printer ran for days and nights printing vegan elaborate shells and finds. This was a fun display to create and I hope the studio made props and decor find an extended life, enjoyed in a coastal home.
